1939
Tomasz Stanisław Sikorski, younger child of Kazimierz Sikorski and Helena née Froelich, is born in Warsaw on 19 May. His older sister Eva is two years old.
Tomasz’s father lectures at the State Conservatory of Music and his mother is a housewife.
1940–1944
Little Tomek spends the first few years of his life in Warsaw. During the occupation his father, Kazimierz Sikorski, heads the Staatliche Musikschule (name of the reopened State Conservatory of Music).
1945–1946
Tomasz moves with his parents and elder sister to Łódź, where Kazimierz Sikorski serves first as Dean the Faculty of Theory, Composition and Conducting and from 1947 as Rector of the local State School of Music.
1948
Nine-year-old Tomasz Sikorski begins piano lessons with Prof. Helena Ilcewicz. His schooling also includes private lessons.
